Buy it or Not?

You’ve been looking at a house for sale and are beginning to fall in love. You trust your real estate broker, but you’d like an unbiased outside opinion about the building’s pros and cons, issues and potential. While an architect or builder can provide important insights, those insights may be colored by the desire for further work.

My only goal is to give you my informed and candid assessment, based on having analyzed hundreds of houses over my 20-year career.

Crisis Intervention

Sometimes jobs get off track and the parties involved have difficulty righting the ship. Whatever the metaphor, outside objective help can be the key to resolution.

Call me in if your project’s not going the way you want it to. I can bring clarity to the situation, restore confidence, bridge gaps, or refer you to other experts if the situation warrants

Fix Up or Move?

Many people ask whether it makes sense—in terms of effort, expenditure, and time–to improve the house they’ve been living in for some time.

I can give you realistic estimates on costs, complexity, and timelines, as well as thoughts on the advisability of taking on improvements that may or may not be safe and intelligent investments.

Ongoing homeowner advocate and project supervisor

Renovations take an immense amount of time—something that’s often in short supply with busy homeowners. It’s said that an average job demands 15,000 decisions.

In the role of advocate and supervisor, I take some of that burden off you, acting as your eyes and ears on the job, representing your best interests during the more mundane stages of design and construction, and allowing you to concentrate on key decisions.

Setting You Up for Success

You know you’re ready to build or renovate. Choosing the right designer and builder are the two most important decisions that face a homeowner. A mismatch can prove fatal to a project—but how do you go about finding the best professionals for you and for the job?

My contacts with architects and general contractors, kitchen designers and subcontractors, specialists and materials-suppliers are wide-ranging, tried-and-true, and cover all budgets, tastes, and tasks.

Let me help you put together a winning team, model the best ways for all team members to get the most out of each other, and set your job up for success.

Troubleshooting, Assessment, and Prioritization

Sometimes a house has built up a long to-do list of improvements—so long, in fact, that its owners need help sorting them out.

I have years of experience helping homeowners rationalize and prioritize their wish lists—let’s work on yours.
